The Hon Harjit S. Sajjan

The Hon Harjit S. Sajjan  The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan currently serves as Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada. First elected as Member of Parliament for Vancouver South in 2015, he previously served as Minister of National Defence (2015-2021) and Minister of International Development (2021-2024).
Before entering politics, Minister Sajjan had a distinguished career with the Vancouver Police Department and the Canadian Armed Forces. He completed multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Bosnia-Herzegovina, earning the Meritorious Service Medal for his intelligence work. As a reserve officer with the British Columbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught's Own), he became the first Sikh to command a Canadian Army regiment.
