Urs Uhlmann is Head of Global Corporate for Zurich Canada. In this role, he sets the strategy and direction and has ultimate oversight for the execution of Zurich’s business providing bespoke risk management and risk transfer solutions for large Canadian multinational companies. He has held a number of positions in Canada, including underwriting management for the International Program business and project management for the replacement of the business handling system. In 2002 he was named Senior Vice President of the International and Industrial division. He transitioned the unit into Zurich's Canadian Global Corporate business division and worked on various global projects, including the integration of Latin America's large risk business into Global Corporate.

Professional History

Uhlmann joined Zurich in 1991 as a senior casualty underwriter at its head office in Zurich, Switzerland. After two years, he was promoted to Casualty Manager of the Chemical/Pharmaceutical Industry segment for Zurich International, the predecessor of the Global Corporate business unit, in Switzerland. In the summer of 1996 he was offered the opportunity to build up that same industry segment for Zurich in Canada.

Educational History

Uhlmann completed the Swiss Commercial Apprenticeship program with a specialization in property and casualty insurance and received the Swiss Federal Insurance diploma. He also holds the rank of captain in the Swiss Army.
